A year ago, my 16-year-old daughter Alexandra began a new chapter in her life. It was the start of a new school—what they call in Switzerland the Gymnase, or non-compulsory school, the step before university studies. Alexandra has always been a very studious, independent, and cheerful girl, but she has always been afraid of what her classmates might think of her or of others simply looking at her.

For her, being alone at school even for a few seconds was incredibly stressful. She had always managed to handle that stress—until the big change to upper school, where she began to suffer such intense anxiety attacks that she could no longer attend. Sometimes we would arrive at the school parking lot and she would start vomiting, so we’d go back home in tears and frustration. For her, every night before bed and every morning upon waking was a battle.

As a mother, it was very hard for me to see my daughter suffer like that. So I decided to seek help.

Through our church and with Rodolfo Aguilar—who, without hesitation, called Alexandra that same day—they had a long conversation. Rodolfo listened to her attentively and guided her, constantly giving her tools to practice each morning and each night before bed. Little by little, Alexandra began to overcome her crises to the point that today she is a happy girl, she loves going to school, and she is confident in herself because she knows that God is with her every step of the way.

Today, Alexandra knows God more deeply thanks to Rodolfo and his advice and guidance. She has even decided to be baptized and accept God into her life.
